Daycare for children
The municipality of Skien has both public and private kindergardens which offer a safe stay for your children from 0 to 6 years of age.
Norwegian kindergardens are controlled by the the Norwegian Ministry of Education, as a part of our educational system.

Before and after-school programme
The municipality of Skien offer a before and after-school programme (SFO) from the first to the fourth grade, and for children with special needs from the first to the seventh grade.

Health care
Departement for Preventive health care for children, youths and for birth care is established to secure a good life for all, independent of social background. The aim is a good social environment, and to prevent somatic and psychiatric illness.
